Meet Matt Tuers

If you’d have asked me a few years ago if I would ever consider a career in car sales, I would have laughed. I mean, we all know the reputation of those guys our parents had to deal with, right?

My wife and I wanted to move to Raleigh for better career opportunities, and one day I was interviewing for Marketing Director of a car dealership in the area. Cars are a sexy product to market, and the more I researched the industry in preparation for this interview, the more curious I got about the sales side of it all.

Now because of my lack of prior involvement in the sector, I didn’t land that Marketing Director job, but I was left with an overwhelming desire to get into auto retail one way or another. Then I started talking to people in car sales: managers, consultants. And I found out that a lot of people like me were getting into it and making a huge impact on the way people view the profession, and view buying a car in general.

The time was right for stepping up to the front lines. I didn’t know which brand to get involved with, and I didn’t much care at that moment. But Chevrolet was on the short list, and I was offered jobs elsewhere, but the more I looked into what General Motors and Chevrolet were transforming the brand into, the more I began nodding my head thinking, “This is the one. These are the cars I’ve got to sell.” Sir Walter Chevrolet decided to give me a shot, and getting started and trained in the Chevrolet 2016 and 2017 line-up affirmed my enthusiasm 1000%. Several weeks after being hired, I marched into a sales manager’s office and said to him, “I need to buy one now.”

My name is Matt Tuers. I’m a sales and leasing consultant at Sir Walter Chevrolet in Raleigh, North Carolina, and I want to show you why I fell in love with Chevrolet.
